UITP Academy is launching an in-person training programme together with Road Transport Authority (RTA) on Waterborne Transport Operation & Maintenance, starting on 27 to 29 January 2025. The course will take place in Dubai, UAE.

Although often overlooked in the common understanding of ‘public transport’, passenger waterborne transport is one of the important means of moving people, mostly in areas that are not serviced by other transport modes due to geographical constraints, or that can be easily reached using waterways.

In recent years, with the development and rejuvenation of waterfronts coupled with increased congestion in cities, waterborne public transport services have become an integral part of the urban landscape for cities. This transport mode is unique as it offers an additional experience of seeing cities from a different, beautiful perspective: it’s a practical attraction!

This programme covers fundamental aspects such as Introduction to Waterborne Transport, providing a foundational understanding of waterborne operations and its role in modern transportation systems. Participants will delve into Policies & Regulations governing waterborne transport, essential for compliance and operational excellence.

The programme also explores Tendering & Contract Management, equipping learners with strategies for effective procurement and contract administration. Planning of Waterborne Services is another key focus, emphasizing the strategic coordination and optimization of waterborne routes and schedules. Operation & Fleet Management principles are covered extensively, addressing the complexities of managing waterborne fleets for optimal performance and safety.
