From cities to people

What we learnt from the 2023 UITP Summit

The 2023 UITP Summit Wrap Up Report looks at the two programme tracks that made up the  congress in Barcelona. From 4 to 7 June, 423 speakers from 41 countries came together in 87 sessions to discuss the future of public transport and sustainable urban mobility under the ‘Cities’ and ‘People’ tracks.

The People programme track explored how public transport can make our lives better, both for customers and employees. More than ever, public transport has to improve its services to provide essential mobility to all, regardless of gender, origin, and accessibility needs.

The cities track meanwhile, looked at Next Generation Cities, Transitioning to Net Zero and Innovative and Resilient Operations. Our cities need to decarbonise, while the public transport sector should innovate to become climate resilient and create liveable and sustainable urban environments.
