In a new report called “Technical Specifications on Safety, Security and Cybersecurity – Applicable for non-SERA urban rail systems in the European Union”, UITP Europe wants to provide a comprehensive overview of the technical specifications for safety, security, and cybersecurity applicable to non-SERA urban rail systems within the European Union.
The report serves as a roadmap for public transport authorities, operators, and manufacturers, facilitating decision-making processes to build safety, security, and cybersecurity policies tailored to local regulatory frameworks. It also includes hyperlinks to additional resources for ease of access.
Non-SERA urban rail systems – such as metro and tram/light rail systems – are often excluded from the scope of EU legislation. This report outlines their unique positioning, distinguishing them from SERA systems bound by the Interoperability and Safety Directives.
