A case study and insights

The possibility of entering into long-term energy acquisition contracts linked to a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), where the supplier invests in energy production, is being explored by some UITP members.

This specific Spanish case, and some inputs on the subject provided by members of the Signalling, Energy and Automation Systems Platform, help us better understand the context. Namely, in order to determine if there are public operators in Europe with PPAs, price agreements linked to investments for the production of electric energy. These agreements typically exceed five years due to the significance of the investments involved.
