Diversity and Inclusion is at the heart of UITP’s DNA: as a global association working to improve lives worldwide, bringing together diverse perspectives allows us to unlock potential for ourselves, our sector and our communities.
During our Staff Retreat last month our Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Task Force, a group of 10 volunteers from the staff, revealed UITP’s D&I statement. The publishing of this statement was a symbolic moment for UITP, testament to the direction UITP and its staff want to take to encourage diversity and inclusion both in the workplace and within our sector. It is embedded in UITP’s first pillar of its RISE values: Respect I Innovation I Sharing I Expertise) which guide us throughout all our activities and interactions and allow us to stay focused on what we do, as well as how we do it.

We believe in inclusion and diversity because we know people flourish when they feel they belong, when their contributions are valued and when they are treated fairly. Our commitment to our people is to build, nurture and sustain a culture of belonging whereby diversity in all its forms is celebrated as key to our success.
Much has already been done at UITP in the field, especially in the field of gender. UITP’s gender equality policy which was put in place with the guidance of several leading figures from our Executive and Policy Boards, helping us to develop our direction.
