The public transport community is a family

During the coronavirus pandemic, we all have a role to play in keeping our cities moving: public transport is an essential service we can rely on during the tough times.

The public transport community is a family and since global lockdowns began this year, the way we network, share knowledge and exchange ideas and expertise has changed.

Staying connected is essential to building back better.

And today we’re going one step further by setting off on our Digital World Tour.

What’s on our digital world tour?

Under the umbrella of our tour across the globe, we have an impressive schedule of events taking place in the UITP digital world: with a focus on digital events, we’re also continuing with hybrid events in 2020 and beyond.

Our first stop was the India Bus Seminar (24-27 August) and here’s a look at what’s coming up next:

The UITP Latin America Week will take place across two days (7-8 October 2020),
followed by the Asia-Pacific Conference where they will be Reinventing Urban Mobility for the World of Tomorrow (22-23 October 2020), leading us into the SITCE Webinar (17 November 2020).

Up next, a trip over to the US and Canada for the International Rail Forum North America for a look at the latest developments in urban rail (10-12 November 2020) and then to IT-TRANS (1-3 December 2020) with more news on the happenings in Karlsruhe to come in due course.

IT-TRANS will be accompanied by the Taxi and Ride-Hailing Conference and Exhibition as the only event of its kind to bring together the taxi and the new mobility players (2-3 December 2020).

Moving into 2021, we will be hosting the next edition of the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition (MTCE) in Dubai (29-31 March 2021). Originally planned for October 2020, the next edition will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre as a hybrid event, which will be adapted to suit the needs of the moment if required.

With many digital events to come in 2021 – including the next edition of
the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Melbourne, 14-17 December 2021!

We may not be able to replace the connection of physical events, but by launching our new world tour we’re bringing you the chance to take a deep dive into the issues facing our sector with a wide variety of experts. With virtual UITP events taking place across the globe, I encourage everyone to take these opportunities to connect, meet, engage and discuss.

We hope to see you online!

Our digital and hybrid events don’t replace all face-to-face occasions – we’re still hosting physical events this year and beyond, with full consideration taken of all the necessary rules and advice.

The travel restrictions in place throughout the world are necessary for these times and at UITP we’ve worked hard to make sure our community connection isn’t lost.
But we can’t do that without you.

During these past months and beyond, collaboration, sharing, innovation and learning from each other is key to ensuring safe and efficient public transport.
Our events are the ideal place to help you achieve this.

By joining us online you can gather global and local expertise and insight from a wide range of impressive experts straight from your home, the office or wherever you may be when you connect.

And some of our upcoming events will also be hybrid editions – more on this later.

We’ve been here this whole time – and we’re not going anywhere without you!

We’ll be back together in person one day, and until then, we’ll see you at the first stop on UITP’s Digital World Tour
