As the only international association of its kind to represent all corners of the public transport sector, expanding our connections with other industry voices is always at the forefront of UITP’s vision.
Today, we are continuing that proud tradition as we sign two agreements with Verband öffentlicher Verkehr-Union Des Transports Public (VöV-UTP) and Alliance SwissPass/ch-integral.
VöV-UTP, the Association of Public Transport in Switzerland, is the national umbrella organisation of public transport companies. With more than 130 transport companies and 180 business and industry players as members, they represent their interests in relation to politics, authorities and third parties.
Alliance SwissPass/ch-integral is the branch organisation of public transport in Switzerland, which brings together 250 transport companies and 18 fare communities. Their expertise lies in tariffication, distribution and customer information. Mobility providers throughout Switzerland have committed to harmonised, comprehensible and cost-effective pricing arrangements, modern and attractive distribution solutions and customer-oriented product ranges and information systems.
International cooperation is very important for VöV. After all, public transport does not stop at borders. This agreement underlines the importance of the great relationship between VöV and UITP, and stresses again, our commitment to international cooperation.
First and foremost, UITP is a member-led association. The expertise, presence and dedication of our more than 1800 members in 100 countries is the voice in which UITP speaks.
This new agreement is also connected to our membership as VöV-UTP is a long-time member of UITP, having joined our ranks in 1983. Now around 35 of their members also hold UITP membership, bringing our associations closer together. Alliance SwissPass also have close links with VöV-UTP, to which they bring their know-how in their fields of competences, and are now UITP members in their own right.
With this collaboration, all three bodies will strengthen their ties and bring a new collaborative approach for VöV-UTP and Alliance SwissPass’ members in Switzerland to the international market UITP works across.
Alliance SwissPass, VÖV-UTP and UITP intend to establish a collaborative training and professional development project and join forces for training portfolios with our UITP Academy. Noted for its wide range of training programmes for all public transport and urban mobility stakeholders worldwide, our training programmes are exclusively based on international expertise and practice.
This new agreement will see our Swiss partners commit to developing their presence within our Academy through trainers and targeted programmes.
UITP is an important organisation in the international collaboration of transport associations. The Alliance SwissPass as a coalition of 250 transport companies and 18 regional fare communities looks forward to working closely together with UITP. As a long term ‘follower’ of the activities of UITP, I’m convinced we both can benefit from this mutual exchange.
Together we can collectively improve our mutual knowledge of respective needs and expectations.
UITP is delighted to sign our new agreements with Verband öffentlicher Verkehr-Union Des Transports Public (VöV-UTP) and Alliance SwissPass and look forward to building the next steps in our collaboration in the coming months and years!
With collaborations come possibilities, and our new agreement with VÖV-UTP and Alliance SwissPass is an important development for all involved. The strong belief that public transport and shared mobility should play a major role in any urban mobility policy is shared across our associations. In an increasingly urbanised world, we must share ideas, knowledge and experience to continue expanding our cities for everyone. As the knowledge hub for the sector, UITP holds the Swiss public transportation services in high regard and will continue to promote this excellence and best practices from the region. I am delighted to commit to working together alongside our members in Switzerland and beyond.
