UITP’s Secretary General, Mohamed Mezghani, has been elected as the new President of the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE). With a vision to ensure a collaborative environment, Mohamed aims to drive the sector forward by strengthening the impact of associations across Europe, driving innovation, enhancing member engagement, and promoting best practices in association management.
Mohamed intends to strengthen the collaboration of ESAE with global and regional associations from other continents, creating a more interconnected and supportive network of association professionals worldwide. This role also allows him to learn from the broader association community and bring even more value to UITP members.
It’s an honour to be appointed President of ESAE. I congratulate Mike Morrissey for his successful tenure and his leadership in growing and professionalising the association. I thank him and the Board for their trust and support. I look forward to working with and for ESAE members, partners, and staff to increase the relevance of associations and make them more influential.”
ESAE, the European Society of Association Executives, is the leading European organisation uniting association professionals. The organisation is dedicated to supporting association leaders through professional development, networking opportunities, and thought leadership. It serves as a pivotal platform for exchanging ideas and advancing the role of associations in society. Mohamed has served as a board member of ESAE since 2019.
Standing at the forefront of association management, ESAE plays a crucial role in shaping best practices and ensuring collaboration among association executives across Europe. For UITP, the election of Mohamed as President represents a great opportunity to advance the sector of association management and governance.
Mohamed is a fantastic and globally recognised leader in the community of trade associations and professional societies. With his expertise as the Secretary General of UITP and his recent experience as one of ESAE’s Vice Presidents, I have no doubt he will bring ESAE to new heights. I look forward to supporting Mohamed’s leadership in the next chapter of ESAE’s journey and thank UITP for allowing him to take up this very important volunteer role”
Just 2 weeks ago, UITP was honoured to win the ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)’ award at the European Association Awards, run by ESAE. The recognition underscored our commitment to these crucial values within the transport sector. UITP’s ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and diverse industry align perfectly with the goals and mission of ESAE.
After Mike Morrissey’s inspiring Presidency that helped ESAE grow in relevance and outreach, I and the ESAE staff team are excited to welcome Mohamed Mezghani. We look forward to assisting him and the rest of ESAE’s volunteer leadership to continue our society’s journey in supporting our members and raising the profile of association management!”
Mohamed succeeds Mike Morrissey, who has led ESAE with distinction, significantly growing and professionalising the association during his tenure. Mike is also the current CEO of the European Cancer Organisation. We look forward to the innovative leadership Mohamed will bring to ESAE and the continued collaboration between UITP and ESAE in advancing the interests of association executives across Europe.
