When UITP launched a brand-new Scholarship Programmeto offer the next generation of sector leaders the chance to expand their industry knowledge, we knew that interest would grow with each year.
Launching the programme, we encouraged applicants to use this new opportunity to develop their careers with a series of courses taken under the guidance of our Academy trainers.
After the outstanding success of all intakes from 2021-2024, we were delighted to
renew our commitment for a fourth consecutive year.
And now, after a record number of applications from across the globe, it’s time to introduce the five future industry experts who will become our new scholars for 2024-2025!
Introducing…
William Sampa, Solar Engineering intern from Zambia
Edith Were, Engineer from Uganda
Vasavi Lakshman Kumar Aleti, Transport Planner from India
Sebastian Ameller Product Manager from Bolivia
Tuğba Sevgi Dursun, Senior Consultant from Turkey
Congratulations to our five future public transport leaders!
By renewing our Scholarship Programme for a fourth consecutive year, UITP is committed to investing in the next generation of future leaders, knowing that their passion for learning will be best served by UITP’s vast global network. Their dedication to growing their knowledge is inspiring, and I hope that our new scholars find their programme of study to be very rewarding.
Our first set of Scholars graduated virtually in 2022, and the UITP Academy placed a strong focus on working closely with Joemier, Mariana, Danait, Iqbal and Utkarsh, getting to know them with our special interview series.
For our second intake, our jury selected four applicants from Nepal, Uganda, the Philippines and Albania, with Matilda, Amul, Joyce and Joseph, studying across the year, and graduating in 2023 to great success!
They were followed by Simisola Elegba, Anna Oliveira, Michaela Tullao and Suresh Kumar Vardanapu who become the latest scholars to elevate their careers under the guidance of our Academy trainers.
And now, beginning their studies across a wide range of industry topics, William, Edith, Vasavi, Tuğba and Sebastian will hope to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and expand their knowledge and grow their careers along the way.
We’ll be hearing more from them in the months ahead – good luck to all as they begin their studies!
