Training on Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) in Urban Rail Systems took place in Istanbul on 11-13 June 2024

From 11-13 June, 2024, UITP Eurasia and UITP Academy, in partnership with Metro Istanbul, hosted an intensive programme at UITP regional training centre in Istanbul.

The 24 rail professionals from diverse cities, including Santiago, Cluj-Napoca, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Izmir, Sofia, Milan, and Warsaw, came to learn, share their experience and form their own network of engineers working in almost same positions and on the same questions all over the world.

UITP expert trainers, including Prof. Dr. Mehmet Turan Söylemez, Atefeh Moghaddam, Klaus Liebwald, Talha Cavdar, Hasan Erdinç Berber, Fırat Toparli, and Dr. Feyzullah Gündogdu, shared invaluable insights on Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) in urban rail systems.

Participants dove deep into:

  • Fundamental RAMS concepts
  • Strategies to enhance railway system dependability
  • Techniques to reduce downtime and optimise operations
  • Comprehensive safety protocols and risk assessment methodologies
  • Practical approaches to improve passenger safety

This collaborative learning experience has equipped our attendees with the knowledge and skills to drive innovation and excellence in their respective urban rail networks.

The next training at Eurasia Training Centre will be about E-BRT / ART (Automated Rapid Transit) and will take place in September.
