In order to provide better services to members in the region, and as part of a new strategic approach, UITP has appointed Dionisio González as Director of Latin-America.
He will combine this position with his role as Director of Advocacy and Outreach. Dionisio will coordinate the UITP offices in São Paulo and Mexico City.
Latin America and the Caribbean, a region home to 33 countries, has the world’s highest urban population density. By strengthening the team, UITP aims to provide more tailored and proactive support to existing and future members.
This allows UITP to better address the unique challenges faced by public transport professionals, policy makers, partners, and all other stakeholders in the region.
“I’m truly humbled to keep learning from our Members and eager to work collaboratively with our great team to advance sustainable urban mobility.”
With almost 30 years’ experience in public transport, Dionisio knows the challenges and opportunities the sector faces. For most of his early career, he worked at Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid, the public transport authority of the region of Madrid, and the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg. In this capacity, he was also involved in several UITP boards and committees, including the Policy Board.
Since 2017 Dionisio is UITP’s Director for advocacy and outreach. During this time, he has strengthened our partnerships with several institutions and partners. He has also built strong relationships with policy makers across the globe.
“I’m thrilled to accept this challenge”, says Dionisio. “It’s an honor to lead UITP’s activities and to contribute to the growth in Latin-America, a Region with impressive developments in public transport. I’m truly humbled to keep learning from our Members and eager to work collaboratively with our great team to advance sustainable urban mobility.”
