Webinar: Reforming Bus Networks for Sustainable Mobility

Designing bus networks for a city is a complex process that involves multiple factors, including customer needs and expectations, demand analysis, the strategic objectives of city management, land development plans, and route and service planning. With rapid urbanisation and population growth, cities are expanding quickly, placing increasing pressure on existing transport networks.

As a result, these networks often lose efficiency and attractiveness, making it necessary to review routes, interchange points, and service levels. Over the past decade, many cities have chosen to reorganise or optimise their public transport networks to improve performance and better meet mobility demands.

Key questions to consider include:

• How can we evaluate an existing network?
• What makes a good or poor network?
• What do passengers, transport authorities, and policymakers expect?
• What essential data is needed (supply, demand, costs, and revenues)?
• What are the goals of network reorganization or optimization?

In this webinar, we will explore these topics, providing participants with a strategic approach to analysing and optimising bus networks in their cities.
