How we secure Public Transport infrastructure against graffiti

Join us for the first of a series of three webinars addressing the pervasive issue of graffiti in urban spaces.

This session will explore the extensive challenges graffiti poses and the collaborative efforts needed between PTO/PTA, law enforcement, and community stakeholders to counter this growing threat. Our expert panel will provide comprehensive strategies and practical solutions for tackling graffiti, including an overview of the recently published paper “Unveiling the silent threat: graffiti’s underestimated impact on public transport”.

Graffiti management is a multifaceted challenge, especially in the public transport sector. Key topics include navigating the complexities of GDPR compliance in public surveillance and data collection, while addressing privacy concerns and maintaining robust security measures for crime prevention. Architectural and design strategies can prevent graffiti, as case studies demonstrate successful reductions through smart design, surface preparation techniques for easy graffiti removal and innovative technologies and materials that support efficient cleaning and maintenance.

Collaborative efforts between PTO/PTA and police are essential for a unified approach against vandalism, requiring effective communication and cooperation among community stakeholders, as well as the exchange of information on and classification system of graffiti.

By addressing these areas, the public transport sector can create safer, cleaner, and more attractive environments for all.Benefits of Attending:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of effective graffiti management while respecting privacy laws.
  • Learn from successful best practice examples and community engagement strategies.
  • Discover the recommendations that UITP and UIC experts have drafted for law makers and public transport stakeholders.
