About

This webinar will focus on addressing the issue of graffiti on public transport, and exploring effective strategies to discourage it. The session will be structured around three key topics, each providing a unique perspective and practical insights.

In the introduction, the work of the UITP Security and Design & Culture Committees will be sharing what UITP is doing on the topic of graffiti, setting the background knowledge for the speakers to build upon.

The first topic will be presented by Antonio Valente (Metro Lisboa) who will address “Aggressive Graffiti: The Lisbon Case”. We will address the challenges faced by Lisbon’s public transport system dealing with aggressive and widespread graffiti.

Next, we’ll examine the “Anti-Graffiti Programme in Vancouver”, where Dr Valerie Spicer, ex police officer and currently employed by SFU, will highlight Vancouver’s comprehensive approach to counter graffiti. The discussion will include key elements of their programme, such as community involvement, rapid response teams, and innovative cleaning methods.

Overall, the webinar aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how to curb the graffiti issue with intelligent design, winning strategies and best practices.
