Digitalisation plays a crucial role in building, managing and governing complex urban rail systems worldwide. Urban rail organisations are adopting new technologies to enhance passenger journeys, making them more comfortable, convenient, and accessible. From initial design and construction to ongoing operations and maintenance, digital tools and technologies are integral across all aspects of urban rail systems. Digitalisation enables various services in urban rail, including enhancing security, providing customer service assistance, supporting operations, future proofing systems, and reducing human errors.
Real-time information and data through AI-powered tools and digital technologies help urban rail systems manage commuters better, increase productivity, and operational efficiency. The application of Internet of Things, sensors, and devices offer solutions to prevent incidents and enhance security systems. Digitalisation has significantly impacted urban rail operations in core areas such as asset management, digital ticketing, predictive maintenance, scheduling and timetabling, rolling stock management, driverless metros, and security enhancement.
UITP India is organising a workshop for Indian Metros – Digitalisation in Operations Management on 13 September 2024 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India. The workshop aims to explore and discuss key digitalisation trends and tools globally and within Indian Urban Rail Systems. Leading urban rail organisations worldwide will participate as speakers, sharing insights on building intelligent and future proof metro systems, implementing digital tools for passenger flow management, and transitioning to automated metros.
The workshop is targeted towards officials from the Indian Urban Rail Organisations.
